Hello lovelies! When I was starting my new job at Kohls it was the first job I had where I didn’t have a uniform or could basically wear pajamas. The dress code for Kohls is business casual and although I had black slacks/dress pants, they were super cheap and had ended up falling apart at the bottom. I ended up having to go shopping for work clothes with my first paycheck because I had like nothing! Business casual means you’re not allowed to wear jeans which was sort of an issue for me since I wear jeans quite frequently. After about a week of work I had found out that I could wear my colored jeggings as long as they had pockets & weren’t jean colored! PERFECT?! As many of you know I love my black pair and my baby blue pair are pretty easy to style as well.
Regardless of that fact though I did have to find other outfits to wear because I can’t wear the same thing everyday! I work in the juniors department so it is literally perfect for me to put together outfits in my mind and also scout out what I want for when we do go shopping. I had spotted this maxi dress and knew I had to have it. I mean come on, it’s black and white, striped, and it’s long enough that I don’t have to have freshly shaved legs. That may be a little TMI, but if you’re a girl, you feel the pain of having to shave everyday during the summer. Plus I get super cold easily so my leg hair is already starting to grow back by the time the day is over, so annoying!
After wearing this maxi dress for the first time I had fallen in love with it. It’s super easy to style, wear, it’s incredibly comfortable, and it’s super cute. It has a slit in the back so you’re legs do peak through, but no one is ever going to be close enough to my legs to notice I don’t have freshly shaved legs, haha! I paired it with my black booties because it is a little long for me since I’m pretty short so the booties keep it from dragging the ground and ruining the bottom. Also, because Kohls does have a business casual dress code I would normally wear a cardigan/sweater over it, but I couldn’t find it when I was looking for it today. So just imagine it’s there and keep it in mind if you’re starting a new job with a business casual dress code.
When I first started I was so nervous about what to wear because I had no idea what business casual was and I knew I didn’t want to wear black slacks every single day. That’s just not who I am, obviously, if you follow this blog you know that. I think I’ve finally mastered the business casual thing & I hope this ends up helping at least one person who has an interview or a new job. I know this was really helpful for me when I started.
